Our feet

The foundation of our mobility: :

26 bones

31 joints

29 muscles

50 ligaments

They allow us to walk upright, they carry the bodys weight and help us keep our balance

Unfortunately many people underestimate the importance of their feet. No other part of the body is more stimulated than feet: during a regular walk, those few square centimetres move over 100 tons and in the course of our life they make us do the equivalent of two trips around the world.

Our Doctor

Feet are too important to let someone else take care of them, they must be treated by a DOCTOR.

Only a doctor can see feet as part of the global picture of a person's health.

Only a doctor can understand that swollen ankles can be the symptom of a heart failure, that some plantar callosities in diabetic people require a more timely and targeted intervention due to the risk of formation of incurable ulcers. How many diabetic amputated feet There are many internist pathologies which can affect a persons feet deforming rheumatoid arthritis, gout, osteoarthrosis, osteoporosis

Why FootClinic From foot, to heart to brain

Why FootClinic ?

Because we are DOCTORS looking after your feet as part of a whole. Many pathologies can be detected by a foot examination

HEART DISEASES: :

A persons heart is like a pump. When this fails (dilative myocardiopathy) it is unable to pump blood in an effective manner. The hydraulic pressure within the vases upstream of the heart rises... the liquid (plasma) in the blood then passes through the side of the vases and imbibes the space between one cell and another (interstice). Liquids tend to build up in the most downstream places of the human body. When we stand for a long period of time, they accumulate at ankle level. If there is some interstitial liquid (from cardiac decompensation), a persistent depression is left when pressing ones finger on the area around the ankle (a sign of fovea: see image on the side). Patients often come to us to be seen about a foot problem and it turns out that they are cardiopaths! This is because more often than not GP's forget to look at their patients' ankles because feet are down there and perhaps they smell

DIABETES: :

A corn which turns into an ulcer, recurring fungal infections in the areas between the fingers or the nails must also raise alarm bells as to a possible diabetic condition Diabetes brings about circulation defects, as a result of which corns deteriorate and become ulcers (the tissue dies) and unfortunately the foot must often be amputated

GOUT:

An acute and relapsing pain of the big toe with swelling and reddening can be symptoms of GOUT.

DEFORMING RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS:

A totally deformed foot can be the clinical expression of rheumatoid arthritis. So, if you go and see a FOOTCLINIC doctor about a foot problem and he ends up taking a blood sample from you or ordering you a Doppler or an ECG dont take him for a fool!

BRAIN:

If he then orders you an NMR, once again, he has not gone beserk! There is a reason for this too. An abnormally shaped foot (especially a seriously hollow foot with reduced supporting surface) may give rise to diseases of the nervous system Parkinsons disease, senile tremor, cerebellum disorders, bone marrow disorders, etc.
